Getting around from your doorstep in Rabat is incredibly easy. Because the town is centrally located, your guests can reach almost any corner of Malta quite efficiently.

Here is a practical "Getting Around" section you can add to your guest guide:

🚶‍♂️ On Foot (Exploring Locally)

Rabat and the neighboring silent city of Mdina are highly pedestrianized and best explored by walking.

Mdina (The Silent City): A beautiful 5-minute stroll from the apartment.

St. Paul’s Catacombs & Local Cafes: Right around the corner. You won't need any transport for daily dining, sightseeing, or grocery shopping in the immediate area.

🚌 By Public Bus (The Budget-Friendly Option)

Malta’s public bus network is modern, air-conditioned, and has excellent connectivity from Rabat. The closest major hub is the Rabat Interchange (near the Mdina gate).

How to Pay: You can tap-and-go directly on the bus with your contactless credit/debit card, or buy a 7-Day Explore Card (€21 for unlimited travel) if you plan to use the bus heavily.

Essential App: Download the official Tallinja App for real-time bus tracking and route planning.

Key Routes from Rabat:

Bus 50, 51, 52, or 53: Direct to Valletta (the capital city, approx. 30 mins).

Malta Public Transport

Bus 202: Direct to Sliema & St. Julian's (shopping, nightlife, and ferries).

Bus 186: Direct to Mosta (to see the famous Rotunda Dome).

Bus X3 or TD1: Direct express routes to and from Malta International Airport.

Malta Public Transport

📱 Ridesharing & Taxis (The Most Convenient Option)

If you want to head out for a nice dinner, are traveling with heavy luggage, or are returning late at night, ride-hailing apps are cheap, fast, and highly reliable in Malta.

The Top Apps to Download: Uber, Bolt, and eCabs (a great local Maltese company).

Pro-Tip: Remember that because our property is in a narrow alley (sqaq), you should set your pickup location just a few steps away on the main street, Triq San Frangisk, so the driver can pull up safely.

🚗 Renting a Car

If you decide to rent a car to explore the quieter beaches in the North or the South:

Driving: We drive on the left side of the road in Malta.

Navigation: Google Maps or Waze work perfectly.

Parking near the house: Street parking in the old core of Rabat is tight and restricted. We highly recommend using the large public parking lot near the Mdina Main Gate/Ditch, which is just a 3-minute walk from the house.

🚢 Ferries (To Valletta or Gozo)

To Valletta: If you are visiting Sliema or the Three Cities, skip the traffic and take the fast, scenic commuter ferries across the harbors from Valletta.

To Gozo & Comino: To visit Malta's sister islands, take a taxi or Bus 41/42 up to the Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal at the northernmost tip of the island, where the passenger and car ferries depart regularly.
